She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis, before heading to Lexington, Kentucky, for an equine field internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. There, she spent her days caring for lots of Thoroughbred broodmares, stallions, and foals, while also treating horses of many other breeds and disciplines across the Bluegrass.
Inspired by her passion for reproductive medicine, Dr. Grillos went on to complete a residency in Theriogenology at The Ohio State University. During her residency, she worked with horses, small animals, livestock, and even a some interesting exotic species. She became board certified in Theriogenology in 2025.
Dr. Grillos is thrilled to be returning home to Northern California to join the team at Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center. While she has a special interest in reproductive medicine, she also enjoys all aspects of equine practice and loves being out in the field caring for horses. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is building lasting relationships with clients and partnering with them to help their horses stay healthy through every stage of life.
When she’s not at work, Dr. Grillos enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling to new places, creative writing, and cooking up her latest favorite recipe. She looks forward to serving the Loomis Basin community and getting to know the horses and people who call it home.
