Due to such, at the early age of 9, becoming an equine veterinarian became my life long goal and passion. So at the age of 20, my wife Margie, my daughter Frances, and I, left the island of Puerto Rico and started a new life in the USA mainland. From limited conversational English, to landscaping and house cleaning jobs in Florida, to USDA Food Inspection and Analytical Chemistry jobs in Georgia, and lots of schooling… the dream became true!
Once I graduated from the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine, an opportunity at a great veterinary clinic in the West Coast, Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center, became available, so our next journey began in California. As an associated at LBEMC, I have the pleasure of working with great veterinarians, staff, owners, trainers, and of course, awesome horses.
Nowadays, I have strong interests in Podiatry, Lameness, Sports Medicine, and general Ambulatory Medicine. In addition, I am the Official Veterinarian for the California Horse Racing Board, Harness Racing Division, were I evaluate race horses’ health, fitness, and soundness, as well as conduct extensive drug testing to keep the sport safe, fair, and humane. In the end, my life long dream, life experiences, education, and the LBEMC Team, have given me the opportunity to assist in the well being of our beloved horses. May the dream continue…
