Mike Parker

DVM

ABOUT

Mike is a proud tribal member from Neah Bay, Washington, on the Makah Indian Reservation. He remains closely connected to his roots, frequently returning home and attending powwows across the West Coast. Inspired by The Black Stallion series at age 12, he originally dreamed of becoming a jockey—until he outgrew the weight limit by 13 and set his sights on becoming an equine veterinarian instead.

Mike earned his undergraduate degree from Washington State University, followed by a Master’s in Equine Nutrition from Cornell University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University. He began his veterinary career on the racetracks at Bay Meadows and Golden Gate Fields, later establishing a private practice in the East Bay. Mike has also served for many years as a veterinary official with both the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI).

When he’s not working, Mike enjoys time with his son locally and visits his daughter in Hilo, Hawaii whenever he can. He’s a fan of horse racing, live sports, and music—and though he claims the title of ‘world’s worst karaoke singer,’ he never misses a chance to take the mic.
